Got my last tomatoes in the water bath now. We got 11 pints of tomatoes. Then we canned some Chile Hot Pepper Sauce and got 14 half pints and 1 whole pint of those. Then I have some left in the fridge to make some of Annie’s Salsa tomorrow. I’m really not wild about the hot pepper sauce but I think I can throw in some hot Tabasco sauce in with it and make it better. I just seems like it needs something and I couldn’t mess with the recipe for fear of making it unsafe to eat. It’s good it’s just NOT what I was looking for. The recipe I have tasted seemed like it was more tomato tasting but yet hot, but not so hot you can’t eat it.

It’s about time I got into bed. Got to get those last ones out of the bath so I can get in the bed. I sure hope the salsa turns out better than the pepper sauce did. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful fourth!

Sounds like you had a lot of tomatoes! My last post was about the last tomatoes on my in the Desert Southwest we plant in February and finish harvesting them this month. If I keep the plants shaded and watered I'll have another crop in September when it cools down. Looks like you've been pretty busy canning too. You have a really nice blog.....glad I saw you on the "Hooked on Houses" list today. :)

It's so nice to grow your own veggies - sorry about the hot sauce, maybe it will taste different after some time - and good luck with the salsa! Yum!

I heard that about the tomatoes! I have fresh tomatoes running out my ears, lol. I am putting up jars of tomato relish tomorrow. Took off today for the 4th. Better get off here and back to the cookout. Diane
